Private Beach

Private Beach is the continuing slice-of-life story
of a young woman named
Trudy Honeyvan.
Trudy has what would appear to be a normal
25-year old's life: she has a so-so job and a
social life that consists mainly of hanging out in
coffee shops with her best friend,
Sharona
Cupkey.

However, despite her care-free and winsome
countenance, Trudy is becoming slowly aware
that her life runs with dark waters.  Even as a
child, she knew that there was a special place
for her in the grand scheme of the universe, and
she's always dreaded finding out what it is...

Blending slice-of-life story telling with a healthy
dose of strange happenings,
Private Beach is
what The Mary Tyler Moore Show would've been
had it been directed by David Lynch and turned
into a comicbook.  Each issue of
Private Beach
is, for the most part, a self contained story,
along with other shorter backup stories.
Running at 24 pages, each  issue is printed in
black and white, retails for a mere $2.95, and is
published by
Slave Labor Graphics.

What do you get when you mix soap opera
melodrama,
mafia dealings, and vampires treated as real
life despised minorities?  Yeah, you guessed it.
This six issue mini-series is written by Howard
Chaykin and David Tischman, colored by Brian
Miller, covers by that goddamned Frank
Quitely, and pencils and inks by me.

Published by
DC/Vertigo Comics, this romp
though Miami's dark vampire underworld is a
must for fans of incest and corrupt Catholic
priests.  Believe me, you won't be disappointed.

This is a pitch for a graphic novel idea of mine.
It's based in a 1960's reality where the Soviets
are winning the space race and JFK has not
been assassinated, but served a second term.
 Some sinister force, presumably the
Russians, is sabotaging the US space
program and former Tuskeegee airman Brock
LeMason is called from retirement to find
answers. Heading up his own handpicked
action team, LeBrock's quest takes him to the
far reaches of the earth...and space.
I am currently the penciller for Marvel
Comic's Spider-man Loves Mary Jane,
starting with issue #16.  For this book,
my pencils are darkened and cleaned
up in lieu of traditional inking.
